What's In It For Me !
Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 11:33AM GREAT QUESTION..
You may have seen "What's in it for me" abbreviated to WIIFM. This is a question that we must all keep in mind as we write, talk with, or e-mail our potential partners. Remembering that it is not about us, it is about them. Value and service above all.
The reason I bring this up TODAY is yesterday my husband and I were approached by a family member, trying to sell his opportunity to us. Of course we listened, and listened and listened.
At no time did he tell us WIIFM. At no time did he ask what we were doing? What our goals were or what we even thought about his opportunity. Just sign up and it will be done for you.
RING A BELL?
I can remember those days only to well. Coming up with my contact list. Cold calling and spreading the word about something no one was really interested in.
I can remember the excitement that I had when starting out this way only to fall into frustration, anger, and failure.
Unfortunately, I see this happening here too and Unfortunately, I really think that he feels that he has us.
Why doesn't he have us?
He could never tell me WIIFM, "WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?"
We heard what is was going to do for him. How we were going to be working for him, not with him, or next to him or be guided by him. How easily it was to get going and that the rest would be done for us. We can certainly not be fooled by these thoughts and notions ever again.
These plans DO NOT WORK.
GUIDING TO A NEW DIRECTION
As coaches to others in network marketing I can only hope that we will be able to guide him too. Right now he is not going to listen. And that is okay. He isn't ready yet and we cannot coach people that are not ready for coaching.
There is an excellent book that we highly recommend to anyone that are guiding and coaching. The book is called "How to well Network Marketing without fear, anxiety, or losing your friends" by Michael Oliver.
You will learn the 4 main principles of Attraction Marketing. Principles that our family member is not embracing. They are:
- "Helping Other People solve Their Problems"
- "Listening to What is being meant, Not just What is being Said."
- "Asking the Right Questions at the Right Time"
- "Feeding back What You think you Heard they want."
Leaving behind the days of Selling and taking on the Consultant Approach. People do not want to be talk to, they need help. Focusing on your potential partner is what will bring you much more success.
SO WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?
